AI Product Engineer — TomFit Coach
We're TomFit, an AI-native physical health provider, building our own training machine and studios, scaling out of Zürich. We combine a new kind of strength training machine, the TomBot, with a software platform and AI to let people create, execute, and monitor a personal training regime that actually adapts to them and their needs. A deeply integrated diagnostics capability allows us to tailor the exercise to the user for highly targeted, effective, and efficient training. As a small, multi-disciplinary team of 25 people across engineering, product, and operations, we are currently operating three hubs with more than a dozen machines deployed. We take a pragmatic, dynamic, and fast approach to building and scaling an AI-native health company. Hardware, software, and intelligence in one product. The hardware exists. The platform exists. Now we want to evolve the intelligence to create an experience people fall in love with. That is where you come in. We are looking for a senior engineer for the development of our "TomFit Coach": the brain that turns sensor data, training history, and a user's goals into real, personalised coaching. Not a chatbot bolted onto a fitness app, but a coach that knows what you did yesterday, watches what you do today, and thinks about what you should do tomorrow. You are a creative engineer who is genuinely excited by what AI makes possible — but you care most about turning that potential into a useful product. And just as important, as a pragmatist you are solution-driven, focused, and set on getting this to market — fast.
What you will do
- Come create the intelligence layer of a real-world AI fitness product: from the model layer and the orchestration logic to the way it shows up in our apps.
- Design and build agentic systems that power the coach.
- Integrate them across our platform.
- Work closely with the rest of the team to make sure the product feels coherent across the machine, the app, and the coach.
A few things we'll need from you
- You are an experienced fullstack engineer who can show us real products you have worked on. Ideally, you have built products with a hardware component.
- Our current stack is Java, React, Flutter, and Kotlin Multiplatform — no need to be an expert, but you should be comfortable diving into them all.
- You have real hands-on experience both building with AI and building AI-based applications. This is at the heart of the role.
- You can work on-site with us in Zürich Stettbach or Kraków. This is an on-site role because the product is physical. You will need to test directly with the TomBot, observe training sessions, work with sensor data, and iterate with the team in the studio.
- Excellent English. German is a big plus.
What we offer
- An inspiring mission – we want to bring physical health to everyone
- The opportunity to own a core product layer end-to-end
- Short paths - no layers of process between an idea and something real people train with.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and a culture of trust
- Competitive compensation
If this sounds interesting and you would like to join us, please send us a short video (2 to 3 minutes) where you walk us through 1 to 2 things you have recently built. Tell us what you tried, what you learned, what surprised you, and what you would do differently next time. We care more about how you think than how polished the video is. Send your video and a short note to hr@tom.fit.
